Ehkom is an integral non-profit cooperative, born to form and manage open telecommunications networks in the Basque Country based on community public collaboration.
Its purpose is to interconnect citizens, public institutions and other community agents, promoting collaboration among them and sharing resources and technological services among all participants. The Municipal Incubator is the first project born from the branch, which has gone from being presented publicly to acting as an independent project.
THE TOWN HALL
As for the nature of the networks we want to form, the networks developed by ehkom will always be open, free and neutral.
Open to the public
They are open because they allow everyone to participate universally, without exclusion or discrimination, and because information about the operation and components of the network is available at all times, allowing anyone to improve and/or expand.
The free ones
They are free because anyone has access to the network, regardless of the level of participation of each user in the network, and no unilateral conditions can be imposed on anyone without agreement.
Of the neutrals
They are neutral because the network is not linked to or conditioned by the contents or technologies used. The contents can be freely disseminated, without the possibility of censorship, suppression or substitution by the participants.
